KARMA YOGA

We will soon be accepting applicants who wish to participate in our Karma Yoga program. Karma Yoga a is the Yoga of selfless discipline and action, offering selfless service to humanity while remaining detached from the fruits of that action; that is, giving without expectation or attachment. As we work to help others and practice emitting the Heart Virtues, regardless of the task at hand, we uncover our own inner wisdom, expand our awareness, activate our Presence and learn to forgive, grow and evolve our capacities to relate to one another in harmonious ways. We become deeper, more aligned versions of ourselves.

Study yourself in action. Transform negatives into positives. Expand your mind and heart’s capacities through selfless service, and help build the Heartwood Centre, Elfhood Unschül, and support the mission and vision of elfhood. Use this space for reflection, deep inner growth, and participation with a heart-based community; give yourself a chance to become aware of the quietness, space and breath inside you, and learn to share that Presence with others.

Join Elfhood ’ s service to humanity through this chosen way.

All Karma Yoga participants will be requested to read the free e-paper entitled “Living from the Heart” which can be found at www.eventtemples.com under downloads. This document provides a vital foundation and lays the groundwork for living and working in our small community.

Tasks may include:

  • building/constructing/renovating the Heartwood Centre
  • working in the Gardens (planting, maintaining, harvesting, etc.)
  • lands projects (including a screened in yoga-dock for the pond), sauna, bunkies, elf-tower, barn, studio, library, etc.
  • odd jobs (firewood collection, cleaning, etc.)
  • Culinary: (making meals, clean-up, canning, making sauerkraut & fermented vegetables, sprouting, dehydrating, etc.)
  • Other tasks, as need arises, and working with the talents and skills of our participants
Karma Yoga Program

Making Maple Syrup

Participants offer 7-8 hours of work per day, enjoy 2-3 delicious alive, organic & prana-filled meals, and participate in an evening group meditation and a morning yoga class, which is a combination of (or one of) hatha, kundalini, dahn and hidden language yoga. There will also be weekly evening campfires to enjoy such activities as drumming, singing, storytelling, spoken word, relaxing and socializing; these will be left open to the interests of our participants. During the daily portion of personal time, one may engage in other activities, including: meditation, yoga, kayaking, saunas, hiking, swimming, archery, relaxing, investigating our small but potent library of works, and so forth. We are also very happy to accommodate those wishing to observe noble silence.

Accommodations are rustic woodland bunkies or tenting. If you are willing to tent, let us know. If you have your own accommodations in the area, we also accept day-by-day volunteers. Please email us with an inquiry.

An application to apply for this program will be posted soon.

Please note that our full Karma Yoga program will not be offered until the summer of 2013. We are currently accepting volunteers who can visit by the day, or who are interested in short term stays (weekend or week) – please contact us with an inquiry at info@elfhood.org
